Massively Multiplayer (And Addicting)

In the Spring of 2005 I was coming down from my love of Halo 2 and was looking for a fix outside of the consoles I had been worshiping since I could stand on my own. I had just bought my own personal desktop and set it up in my room and had opened my mind to PC gaming. I was enthralled by the world of PC Gaming (which I still am) and needed to pick a good game. I chose World of Warcraft and spent the next five or so years building characters with friends (real life and those internet ones). It was the most positive game experience of my life to date and it's hard for me to find something similar to this date.

Since the past year or so I have gotten off World of Warcraft but I still love it. It just wasn't the same for me and I am too busy lately for it. But what I'm writing this for is to ask you guys what MMO you have fallen in love with or are still playing. I'm looking to try a new one this summer since I have more free time. I love just about all PC games and am willing to try some of the suggested ones. WoW will always be my staple for PC gaming and I'm sure I'll be dragged in every time an expansion comes out ;)

It was never a bad addiction like console gamers or people who don't understand WoW but it just made me happy to be there and there's no comparing it. It's easy to make fun of something you don't understand but I will always love MMO's (along with FPS, RPG, RTS etc.). But World of Warcraft just showed me a world that taught me how amazing gaming could be. I never did anything bad because I shouldn't have been playing WoW and did instead. Well that's my two cents, what's yours?

  1. MMO's are amazing...Lol i hate how much time i wasted on WoW but it was fun and i enjoyed it...My friends are trying to get me into rift but i have been avoiding MMO's you have to pay for because it drains your money

  2. I fell in love with Lineage 2, such an amazing game, ten times more sociable than WoW. But i broke up with it (gm was fucking moron, playing in one ally and favoring it by free itans or sth...) and tried wow also too. I really enjoyed it but also left it after a year or sth, I wanted to back to L2 after but most of friends were not already playing or most of good servers were dead. So I decided to try some f2p mmos like Allods or RoM and others but they all sucked. Now I'm waiting for Guild Wars 2 game without subscription. Well that's all i think :P

  4. I played wow too.
My time is still up but I'm not interested in it at the moment.
I will always love the game though regardless if I play it or not. There was a part of my life where I was so addicted to it, that's all I did.
Good times though. I wouldn't trade it for anything.

  8. I spent 6 years on/off WOW also, it just made me happy and was a good time-sink. I think I have quit for good this time it has completely lost its lure now finally and I'm probably better for it.

  9. I played WoW for one year. I got to say that year was pretty depressing. Anyways, I just got bored of it. Its funny of how cheap it is now

  10. I was pretty addicted to AoEII. Even though it's not an RGP, the online was extremely addicting. Oh so many afternoons spent at MSN Zone..

  12. I played WoW for about 2 years on and off. And I kept going back to Runescape, however I can see where people wouldn't like Runescape so...
Rift seems like a great game, I've played the closed beta but thats about it. And when the time comes Guild Wars 2.
